Caregiver Program

The Asian Family Caregiver Program brings culturally appropriate education and training to caregivers and their family members in Washington County. The program supports caregivers as they take on a task that is often stressful and demanding. Educational workshops provide health information and community resources.

The curriculum used is Legacy Health System’s Powerful Tools for Caregivers. Class topics include:

    • Taking care of yourself

    • Reducing personal stress

    • Communicating effectively

    • Learning from our emotions

    • Mastering transitions

    • Making tough decisions

The program has been funded since April 2004 by Washington County’s Department of Disability, Aging & Veteran Services.
