Students

3-year-olds
We give them a gentle, caring introduction to the new world of school. They learn the routine of the school day and begin functioning independently and as members of a group. They learn to take turns, listen to their teachers and classmates, and care for themselves and others.

Dances and group games develop gross motor skills. Drawing, cutting, pasting and playing with small objects encourage fine motor development. Students get their first immersion in the Chinese language and culture. Stories, songs, rhymes and poems give them the beginnings of vocabulary and expression, allowing them to start communicating in their new language. Art, music and creative play nurture their imagination.

4 and 5-year-olds
Academic exploration and social development will be emphasized. When they are comfortable with school routines, they will begin academic work in Mandarin.

Stories, poems and songs continue fostering the growth of spoken language. Students explore counting, numerals and the idea of more or less. Drawing exercises build the skills necessary for writing. Work with the calendar and observations of weather establish the concepts of time and environment.

Forming and maintaining friendships, following directions, and increasing self-reliance and self-esteem are goals of social growth. Students also participate daily in art, music and physical education.
