Heart Disease

Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women in Oregon, according to the American Heart Association. In 2002, more than 5,000 women died from the disease. It also kills 10 times more women in Oregon than breast cancer. Nationwide, nearly one out of two women die from cardiovascular disease. For women with diabetes, the risk for cardiovascular disease is at least two times higher than for those without.

AHSC partners with medical providers and volunteer medical professionals to provide screenings for conditions leading to cardiovascular disease at its annual Asian Community Health Fair and other health-related community events.
