Immunization
With vaccination, many diseases – including hepatitis B, influenza and human papillomavirus – are preventable. Despite a common misconception, vaccination is not only for children – it is just as important for adults to get vaccinated. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention encourages adults to obtain the influenza vaccine once a year.
During past immunization projects, AHSC has partnered with the National Asian Women’s Health Organization, Oregon Adult Immunization Coalition, Oregon Immunization Program, Oregon Partnership to Immunize Children and Multnomah County Health Department to immunize adults and children and to educate about vaccine-preventable diseases.
AHSC is working on a project that would eliminate language barriers for those seeking vaccination:
Vaccine Preventable Disease Flipbook
The project seeks to translate immunization information into Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese, using an English version from the Oregon Department of Human Services. Funding from the National Asian Women’s Health Organization makes this project possible.
